(c) A driving licence may be issued to any person who is at least sixteen and a half years of age (16-1/2), who otherwise meets the conditions of this article and who has held an intermediate driving licence for at least six (6) months without conviction under article 63-11-30 or movable offence.  Any conviction under section 63-11-30 or for a movable offence must include the six-month requirement for possession of an intermediate driver`s licence before an applicant can claim a driver`s licence.  However, a person who is at least seventeen (17) years of age, who has received a regular apprenticeship permit and who has never been convicted under section 63-11-30 or for an offence against movement does not need to hold an intermediate permit. You must renew your driver`s license before it expires if you want to have licenses to drive in Mississippi. The licence can be renewed 6 months before and up to one year after the expiry date. Once you`ve held your license for at least 12 months, you can apply for a Mississippi intermediate driver`s license. With this driver`s license, you can drive unattended between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and weekends from 6am to 11.30pm. There are no restrictions when driving to and from work. The intermediate licence limits driving between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. every day of the week. There are no restrictions on the way to work. It allows you to drive unattended from 06:00 to 22:00. Sunday to Thursday and 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. (There are no time restrictions on your way to and from work.)
